If you studied medicine, engineering, or another degree in China and are now moving to the UAE for work — or need a China-issued personal or commercial document recognised there — you’ll need a specific legalization chain, and it’s worth knowing upfront that China’s own recent, widely-reported apostille reform doesn’t shortcut this for UAE. We handle the complete process end to end.
What is China Embassy Attestation For UAE?
China embassy attestation is the legalization process that verifies a document issued in China — educational, personal, or commercial — is genuine, so it can be legally used by UAE authorities, employers, and institutions. China’s membership in the Hague Apostille Convention began officially on 7 November 2023. However, the country’s consular agency has clearly explained that there are two channels to validate documents for export. Documents sent to other member States of the Hague Convention will require one service, i.e. an apostille, whereas for those documents sent to non-member States like the UAE, we have decided to offer only complete consular legalizations.
Important: China's 2023 Apostille Reform Doesn't Apply to UAE
China’s accession to the Hague Apostille Convention in November 2023 was widely covered internationally — genuinely big news, since it replaced a slow “two-step” legalization process with a faster “one-step” apostille for most countries. It’s an easy, reasonable mistake to assume this simplification now covers every destination. It doesn’t. The UAE is not a Hague member, so a China apostille alone is rejected for UAE use — China’s own consular authority confirms documents for non-Hague destinations still require the traditional route: MFA/FAO legalization, followed by the destination country’s embassy in China.
China Embassy Attestation Process For UAE

- Notarization – The document is first notarized by a certified notary public in China.
- China MFA / Authorized FAO Legalization – The notarized document will be legalized at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs or from an authorized local Foreign Affairs Office. The consular channel and not an apostille will be used for this legalizing since it’s going to the UAE.
- UAE Embassy/Consulate in China Attestation – A document that is authenticated by MFA can be legally accepted after submitting it to UAE Embassy (Beijing).
- UAE MOFA Attestation – The ultimate official identification of the file for the use in government institutions throughout the UAE.
How Long Does China Embassy Attestation for UAE Take?
China’s MFA or local Foreign Affairs Office step is generally efficient once notarization is complete, but the overall timeline depends heavily on which of China’s many FAOs is handling your document, since processing speed varies by province. We confirm a current, realistic estimate once we know your document’s specific city or province of origin.

Why Is China Embassy Attestation Required For UAE?
UAE authorities, employers, universities, and banks are not able to directly confirm the authenticity of a Chinese document. Hence, attestation plays an important role by ensuring that it is a genuine copy so that the concerned parties are assured to accept the paper. The most frequent reasons why people resort to this procedure:
- UAE Employment for Graduates — A Chinese-issued degree (common for Indian students who studied medicine or engineering in China) needs attestation before UAE employers or licensing bodies like DHA or HAAD will recognise it.
- Family/Spouse Visa Sponsorship — A China-issued marriage certificate needs attestation for UAE family visa application
- Business Setup — Documents for China-based subsidiaries or foreign parent companies need attestation to register or operate in the UAE
Documents We Handle for China
- Educational: Degree, transcript, and graduation certificates — including for Indian students who studied in China
- Personal: Birth, marriage, and police clearance certificates
- Commercial: Certificate of incorporation, articles of association, board resolutions — relevant for foreign parent companies with China-based subsidiaries expanding into the UAE. See our full commercial document attestation process.
FOLLOW THE STEPS FOR SERVICES
Getting your documents attested can be simple if you follow a systematic approach. At UAE Attestation, we ensure that we provide explicit and genuine services. Here are the steps to get started with our services.
If You Studied in China and Are Moving to the UAE
China is one of the popular places for Indian students to study MBBS, engineering and other courses. In case you are one of them, you must follow the attestation process for your Chinese degree, transcripts, internship, graduation (etc.) Certificate(s) if you want UAE employer, university or the licensing body (for example, DHA or HAAD for medical professions) to acknowledge them – apostille from China by itself will not suffice for a UAE application.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Even though China joined the Hague Apostille Convention in November 2023, the UAE is not a member — a China apostille alone will be rejected for UAE use. Full consular legalization is required instead.
Notarization by a Chinese notary public → China MFA or authorized Foreign Affairs Office legalization → UAE Embassy/Consulate in China attestation → final UAE MOFA attestation.
Yes. Your Chinese degree and transcripts need the full attestation chain before UAE employers, universities, or licensing bodies (such as DHA or HAAD for medical roles) will recognise them — a China apostille alone is not sufficient.
No, not as a substitute for attestation. The UAE has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention, so China’s apostille reform — which does apply to most other destination countries — does not extend to UAE-bound documents.
Common reasons include UAE employment, family/spouse visa sponsorship, university admission, and business setup — UAE authorities can’t independently verify a document issued in China, so attestation confirms it’s genuine.
Typically the original certificate, the relevant prior-authenticated copy, a passport copy, a passport-size photo, and an authorization letter if we’re processing on your behalf. We confirm the exact list for your specific document free of charge.
